The expansion building for internationally renowned pottery shop, Pewabic Pottery, required ample gallery space and improved layout for pottery production. Pewabic also vested their interests in providing opportunities for the under-privileged residents of the surrounding community. The design for this expansion symbolized the unearthing of clay through fire and providing visually accessible results above the surface of the earth. The design was also sensitive to bringing natural daylight into the earth as well as providing visual clues to the historic arts and crafts style building Pewabic currently operates within.
