As a precurser to the Pewabic Pottery Expansion - also located on Jefferson Avenue - a site analysis of a typical neighborhood was conducted. This representation shows through the use of canvas, stitching and layering of materials and imagery, how the city and its developers are trying to mend Detroit's neighborhoods. This investigation brought to my attention the gentrification of slums and the displacement and separation of economic classes providing glimpses of intense contrast within highly compact sectors. Detroit's efforts to revive itself are currently disjointed, misguided but well intentioned.
