This design build studio was initiated after an anonymous donor approached the Michigan School of Architecture providing the funds to design and build an amphitheater in Ann Arbor's public Nichols Arboretum. Over a short time span of only four months, this studio required thirteen students to develop, design, and construct the amphitheater. We learned through this project everything that is normally dealt with when going through the process of an architectural job, from the politics and fund raising, permitting processes, site surveying and preparation, construction documents to the building of the project. The project has received much praise from the public and we are looking forward to the ribbon cutting scheduled in May 2004.
